Stop Asking for the “Best Bafang Mid Drive Motor” — Ask for the Right Duty Cycle Instead

I’m the office administrator for a 40-person equipment service company. I handle purchasing for motors, drives, gearboxes, and repair parts—about $200,000 a year across 8 vendors. But some things remain the same: match the motor to the load, keep it cool, and buy from someone who answers the phone. The AC servo motors we buy today are easier to tune than the ones we bought a few years ago. The Bafang M400 motor is a better integrated package than the M400 we saw in 2020. The execution has transformed. The fundamentals haven’t.

So go ahead and search for the best bafang mid drive motor. I do too. But when you get to the results, don’t just look at the top review. Look for a supplier who can send you a wiring diagram, a current revision, and an honest answer about lead times. The best motor isn’t the one with the most impressive marketing. It’s the one you can keep running.
