Confessions of a Bike Tech: 3 Bafang Motor Choices You Won't Regret (And 1 You Will)

The Bafang G310: When a hub motor is actually better

Bafang's Industrial Motor Line: A quick note for B2B buyers

  • High-volume OEMs: If you're building 100+ bikes, you'll want to go direct to Bafang for custom windings and connectors. My advice is for small shops and individual builders.
  • Racing or extreme off-road: The M600 or a custom hub motor setup might be necessary. My checklist is for reliable commuter and trail bikes, not downhill competition.
  • Budget builds under $800: A generic front hub motor might be your only option. Bafang's mid-drive kits start at around $650 for the BBS02B, plus battery and display. If the budget is tight, look elsewhere.
